When Western markets opened, American chipmakers extended the downward momentum. SanDisk parent Western Digital, Seagate, and Micron Technology each suffered losses of around 9%, while SanDisk shares sank 13%. Advanced Micro Devices dropped 7% and Intel fell 5%. Nvidia initially slipped at the opening bell before recovering modest gains, underscoring a sharp divergence between primary AI platform owners and broader hardware component providers.

Equity markets historically begin discounting memory stocks 12 to 18 months before spot prices actually reach their cyclical crest. "The market opportunity remains sufficiently large for multiple players to benefit and coexist," Gantori said, pointing out that the broader AI investment cycle continues to support leading technology firms.
Addressing concerns over cyclical pricing dynamics, Gantori acknowledged that research reports pointing toward a memory price peak align broadly with institutional expectations. However, he emphasized that recent equity declines have significantly altered the valuation entry point for patient investors.
"What matters is risk-reward, and at current valuations, risk-reward has improved," Gantori noted.
When high-growth sector valuations compress rapidly, the entry yield and forward earnings multiples often become attractive to long-term value investors who were previously priced out during momentum-driven rallies.

In the short term, global equity markets face a period of heightened price discovery as leverage continues to wash out of derivative channels.
